A Dose of Inspiration

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”

— GK Chesterson

Chesterton reminds us that wonder not only makes life more joyful… it makes us more awake to it.

We don’t need more to be grateful for.

We simply need to see what’s already here with clearer, more awe-filled eyes.

This week, look for the good that’s been hiding in plain sight.

🤓 A Dose of Learning

Alan Mulally led Boeing and Ford through extraordinary cultural transformation, but it wasn’t strategy alone that defined his leadership.

It was love by design. Intentional, actionable love.

From a conversation with Shane Parrish on The Knowledge Project, here are a few takeaways that have stuck with me:

❤️ Love as a priority, not a perk: The purpose of life is to love and be loved. In that order. Mulally learned this from his mother and believes business does not run on efficiency alone… it runs on relationships that dignify people.

🙏 Live an integrated life: Align what you believe with how you live, work, serve, and lead. The same core values show up at home, at work, and within your team, becoming the heartbeat thread throughout your life.

🤝 Serve the mission, not your status: “They’re not working for me. They’re working for what we’re trying to accomplish.” Leadership becomes membership in a mission, not authority over people.

🔁 Reinforce. Reward. Repeat.: Culture isn’t made in moments. It’s sustained through daily practices of trust, clarity, dignity, and love in action.

💛 A Dose of Action

Mulally believes we lead best when we live an integrated life… the same values professionally and personally.

This week, choose one value you want to practice more intentionally (kindness, courage, gratitude, presence, patience, curiosity… you choose).

Then live it in both spaces:

🏫 With your team: Practice that value with one interaction, one decision, or one acknowledgment.

🏠 With your people at home: Live out that same value with one conversation, one moment of presence, or one small act of love.

💡 Why it matters: When we’re the same person in every space, our leadership becomes genuine, trustworthy, and deeply human.

We don’t switch identities… we lead from who we are.
