✨ A Dose of Inspiration
“Good leaders inspire people to have confidence in their leader. Great leaders inspire people to have confidence in themselves.”
— Eleanor Roosevelt

The heart of leadership has always been about helping people rise.
Every person on your team has genius that deserves to be seen and nurtured. This time of the year is the perfect opportunity to pause and consider how you are inspiring confidence, clarity, and growth in the people you serve.
When leaders create space for reflection, celebrate progress, and invest intentionally in others, confidence grows. And when confidence grows, so does capacity.

🤓 A Dose of Learning
This week, as we step into December, we turn to the practices of leaders who prioritize growth. These ideas from John Maxwell deeply align with this natural season of reflection, refinement, and realignment.
Growth is not automatic. It requires intentionality. And the leaders who grow others well have a plan for it.
Here are three takeaway leadership practices from Maxwell’s episode:
- Have a Growth Game Plan: Growth doesn’t happen by accident. Whether it is your own leadership or the people you support, you need a simple, intentional plan that answers:
- What matters most right now?
- Where is growth happening?
- What adjustments and support are needed?
- What next steps will make the biggest difference?
- Put Yourself in the Growth Picture: Leaders cannot grow their people if they are not growing themselves. Maxwell reminds us that people do what people see. Your modeling matters more than your messaging. When you share what you are learning, when you talk about a book, a podcast, or a shift you are making, you set the tone for your team. You show that growth is not a January resolution. It is a way of leading.
- Create a Culture That Supports Growth: A growth game plan is not just a conversation, it is a culture. And cultures grow when leaders:
- Ask reflective questions
- Celebrate progress
- Give challenging projects
- Coach instead of rescue
- Empower instead of direct
- Make space for learning, discussion, and reflection
This is exactly why mid-year growth conversations are powerful. They help you see strengths and impact (yay!), revisit goals (let’s do this!), and reconnect to both their purpose and your shared vision (talk about impact!). All while identifying the next right step… together.

🎬 A Dose of Action
Mid-year growth conversations do not have to be long to be meaningful. As busy as you are, I promise you won’t leave them thinking you wasted even a moment. They are that powerful.
This week, I am sharing two simple resources I have used for years to guide reflective, supportive, human-centered conversations with team members this time of the year.
Your invitation: Pick one or two questions from the templates below, send them to your team, and schedule a short mid-year growth conversation. It can be ten minutes. It can even happen after winter break. The power is in the intention and the connection.
Here are a few ways to start:
- Ask a team member to reflect on one question before you meet.
- Use the Growth Meeting Template prompts to help them identify strengths, needs, and next steps.
- Invite them to share what is working and where they want to grow.
- Listen for what energizes them and what support they need most.
Mid-year meetings are not about evaluation. They are about seeing people, supporting their growth, and helping them realign. One conversation can create clarity and momentum for the rest of the year.
If it’s helpful, here are two versions I’ve used with success: Mid-Year Growth Meeting Template (Version 1) or Mid-Year Growth Meeting Template (Version 2).
Feel free to make a copy and edit to fit your context.
The goal is simple: Grow your people with intention, and you’ll see exponential growth rise from everywhere.
You got this. Let’s lead with belief.
